About the Organisation
The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the year 1965, is a service organisation with a spiritual core and base to benefit all mankind irrespective of religion, caste, creed or sect. The permanent charter of the organisation was granted by BHAGAWAN SRI SATHYA SAI BABA at the THIRD WORLD CONFERENCE, dated this 14th day of January, in the 55th year of His Advent, Anno Domini 1981.
The Charter of the OrganisationThis awareness is awakened by propagating through practice and example the basic principles of Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanti (Peace), Prema (Love) and Ahimsa (Non violence) set by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
“The precious jewels of sathya, dharma, santhi, and prema are there in every human being. It is the duty of every human being to safeguard these jewels. Without these values, the body is like an empty iron safe which has no value.” (Sri Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol 39,2006)
The activities of the Organisation are only a means to the spiritual progress in this direction and which progress will ultimately enable everyone to enjoy inner peace notwithstanding the stresses and strains, the frustrations and sorrows, the defeats and successes, the ups and downs of life.
It is emphasised that the Sai Organisation is not a religious or a proselytising organisation. It has also not been established to preach any particular religion. At no point is an individual asked to follow a certain religion or rituals. On the contrary each is inspired to follow his own faith so as to ensure that a Hindu becomes a better Hindu, a Muslim becomes a better Muslim, a Christian becomes a better Christian and so on. In fact, this spiritual basis inspires everyone to pursue his own religion better by putting into practice Love and Selflessness. That is why the Organisation features in its emblem the symbols of the major religions of mankind.
“Ekam sath viprah bahudha vadanti (truth is one, but scholars refer to it by different names). It is not correct to say that you like only Rama or Krishna or Siva or Sai Baba. There is only one God, and He is omnipresent. Do not hate other religions. A Hindu should become a better Hindu, a Christian a better Christian, and a Muslim a better Muslim.” - Sri Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol 32, 1999
Thus, without any distinction of religion, nationality, race, socio-economic status, either for those who work in the Organisation or for those who are served by it, the Organisation transcends all barriers leading humanity towards the ideal of ‘Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man’.
“Since ancient times, the culture of Bharat has been propagating the message of peace and love with the prayer, Loka samastha sukhino bhavantu (May all the people of the world be happy)! You have to uphold this sacred culture. You may worship God in any name and form you like, but understand the truth that God is One and One only.”- Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol 32, 1999
Since the 1960s, when the seeds of the Organisation in India were sowed, it transformed itself into a banyan tree spreading across length and breadth of India in almost all the Districts under which many take refuge to cure their own spiritual ailment by alleviating the miseries of millions.

“Vyasa declared, “Paropakara punyaya papaya arapeedanam (helping others is meritorious, harming others is sinful).” So, Help ever, Hurt never. This is what I want you to do. Delhi is the stomach of Bharat. If the stomach is good, the whole body will be good. Likewise, if Delhi is good, the whole country will prosper. So, see to it that there is peace and harmony in De/hi. The people of Delhi should stand united. If you have unity, there is nothing that you cannot achieve in this world.” - Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Divine Discourse, Delhi, 12th March 1999
