Reweaving the fabric of existence:
Rahul Kumar Singh from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sector 18, whose journey towards Bhagawan began when Bal Vikas classes were introduced in the slum areas around Sector 18.
A notable highlight pertains to the loving environment, positive encouragement and caring guidance the children including Rahul Kumar Singh felt as he began attending Bal Vikas classes regularly.
In Rahul’s words, “Initially, we attended the classes with a simple desire to receive sweets from Guru Maa, but over time, we absorbed valuable lessons in moral values. Slowly, we began to feel the importance of giving back to society rather than just taking.”
Not only did Rahul and his friends became regular Bal Vikas students but they also participated in all the Samithi activities and offered Prashanti Seva regularly.
“I am deeply grateful to our Guru Maa, Birbala Ahuja, for shaping our lives as a Bal Vikas Guru. Had it not been for the Bal Vikas classes, I can't imagine where we would be today. All of our education was supported by the Samithi,” Rahul says.
Notably, from the same area, every year, 25 to 30 youth offer Prashanti Seva.
Currently, Rahul is working as an Assistant Manager in Delhi’s entertainment sector and six of Rahul’s Bal Vikas friends are working in reputed companies. He attributes their growth and transformation to the learning and guidance they had received as part of their Bal Vikas classes.
An interesting experience Rahul had highlights Bhagawan’s omnipresence and the importance of Prashanti Seva, “Whenever we returned from Prashanti Seva, I would post about our service activities on Facebook, and my colleagues often ask about the nature of seva we offered at Prasanthi Nilayam. I used to explain it and then, five youth from our office visited Prashanti Seva along with me, and upon their return, they shared their experiences with other staff members. Now, our Cluster Head has given us permission to visit Prashanti Seva as a group and asked us to present these activities to the rest of the office.”
“Start practicing in least in a small way. Put into practice at least one or two teachings that you have learnt on the path of spirituality. Instead of listening to tonnes and tonnes of discourses, it is better that you put into practice at least an ounce of what you have heard. This will cure the ills of your life.” – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba (Divine Discourse, 17th July 1996)
